The lawmaker representing Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 01 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji, has stated that Lagos State is creating an enabling environment for youths  to thrive within the digital space.

Hon. Adewale made the statement while speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the Lagos Youth Leadership Workshop, organized by the Lagos State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).

Speaking on the topic: “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathway to Sustainable Development,” Hon. Adewale noted that Nigeria’s digital space and digital economy are as significant as those of any other country, citing the visit of Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, to Lagos as part of Nigeria’s tech revolution.

He, however, said that while many youths are successfully monetising their various social media platforms, there is a need for others to better channel their energy in the right direction.

“We must commend the youths for their resilience, and as elected representatives, we need to create enabling environments for them to thrive, and Lagos State is leading in that area,” he said.

He added that youths need to leverage various digital tools to be at par with their peers around the world, urging the youths to dream big, as nothing is impossible for a willing mind.

He shared the story of one of his friends, a mechanic who progressed from repairing cars to handling exotic vehicles, as well as managing the governor’s and presidential fleets, among others.

He encouraged the youths to take their time and climb the ladder of success gradually, noting that greatness comes through hard work, focus, determination, and the grace of God.
