Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have recovered illicit substances valued at ₦1.042 billion after raiding an 80-room hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, allegedly used as a distribution hub for drugs. The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement has expelled 902 Nigerians since the start of fiscal year 2019, according to data from the agency’s 2024 Annual Report. This is as 3,690 more remain in limbo with removal orders hanging over them. Tragedy struck in the early hours on Saturday, when a driver of a fully-laden truck with registration number, GGE 624 YJ, skidded off Pen Cinema Bridge, along Agege, Old Abeokuta Road, Lagos. The truck driver due to heavy impact, had his limbs and arms fractured in the incident. The federal high court in Lagos has ordered the interim forfeiture of the properties linked to some Chinese nationals arrested for alleged internet fraud. Deinde Dipeolu, the presiding judge, on Wednesday, granted the order following an ex parte application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The application was against Genting International Co after the EFCC alleged that the company financed the 792 members of a syndicate arrested in Lagos for alleged fraud. The Federal Government has announced full closure of the Ijora Bridge in Lagos, starting from April 27, for critical repair works. The Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Mrs Olukorede Kesha, made this known during an inspection of the bridge on Monday.
