Providence Heights group of schools, now celebrating 30 years and 40 years for the secondary and primary respectfully has had a clean slate of record over the years.
Venerable Olugbenga Oluremi said to train children for greater heights in the society requires a lot of discipline and commitment, which are the hallmarks of Providence Heights since inception.
Venarable Oluremi noted that “We have to give glory to God for the school in the last 30 and 40 years. To train these children to attain greater heights in the country takes a lot of discipline and commitment. This is a school that attach so much importance to excellence and moral.
“And you will agree with me that for the past 40 years, this is a school that has no record of scandal. I’m sure you know what I meant when I said the school is scandal-free. When you talk of big schools, you can mention them, often you hear this and that big school is having a scandal. It is either sexual immorality or maltreating the students. But to the glory of God Providence Heights has no such record.”
He added that “The school has been playing the role of excellent guardian, teacher and motivator for the students to excel right from inception till now, and will continue to do so till Jesus Christ comes it will be a school to be reckoned with in our society. Other schools can learn the act of appreciation from the school – appreciate quality, appreciate the teachers. Teachers are the bedrock of any school, the competency, the character and the morality of the teachers matter.”
Providence Heights organized a weeklong activities to mark its 30th and 40th anniversary opening with a free medical checkup for the staff, a career workshop for the students on Wednesday, with the grand finale showcasing the inter-house sports held at the Agege Stadium on Friday.
President, National Association of Proprietors Private of Schools, Lagos State chapter, Chief Alakayusuf L. O., who also is the proprietor of Malizzay Private Schools, Ajah, said “Coming here we come to celebrate with one of our erstwhile presidents of NAPPS, Mama S. A. Oduyemi. She is the third president of NAPPS in Lagos State. She is one of those who agitated for the formation of the Association of Proprietors of Private Schools and they merged with the National Union of Proprietors of Private Schools to form NAPPS. And since the formation of NAPPS she has been the only female that has become president of NAPPS.”
Alakayusuf added that “Mama Oduyemi is a very powerful president who did everything to carry every member along. She is a very respectful person, and she took us like her sons and daughters. So with that we move with her. To the glory of God the school is celebrating 30 and 40 years today, and we are moving along. She has been a very wonderful mother and we stand by her always.”
Mrs. Oloyede Tolulope, an alumnus of Providence School’s First Set, and now a mother with children attending her alma mata, said “the school has been doing well. It’s great and it’s standard. Their last year WAEC result was very good. I believe that they have stuff that leads them to greater heights. To me the school has the tradition of excellent performance through hard work. And the teachers are qualified teachers, not just any teacher.”
