A 26-year-old student of the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos State, Udochukwu Prisca, is in urgent need of N30m to undergo a kidney transplant at the Gbagada General Hospital.

Gifting Volunteer Network, a non-profit group supporting indigent medical patients, in a statement on Tuesday, stated that Prisca, a native of Abia State and a Higher National Diploma programme student, had put her education on hold following a kidney failure diagnosis.

The NGO, in the statement by its founder, David Tamarau-Kuro, disclosed that the ailing undergraduate recounted how her health ordeal began in December 2024.

“I am 26 years old from Abia State, diagnosed with kidney disease. It all started with a swollen leg and stomach, which I was asked to run tests to ascertain the root cause of my predicament. The test conducted at the Gbagada General Hospital revealed that both kidneys were damaged.

“I am appealing for financial support to get a kidney transplant to return to school again and fulfil my dreams of becoming an engineer.”

According to the statement, the Medical Director at the Gbagada General Hospital, Dr. A. T. Okunoren, signed a medical report indicating that the patient presented with bilateral leg swelling, oliguria, and lethargy on December 24, 2024.

It said, after a thorough clinical and biochemical assessment, she was diagnosed with advanced CKD due to uncontrolled hypertension.

“She has since been on twice-weekly haemodialysis and other nephrology care and will eventually require a kidney transplant. The doctor urges the public to provide all necessary assistance to Prisca Udochukwu,” the statement added.

Appealing for support for her friend, Faith Joseph, appealed to the public to help her in raising the required funds for her transplant. She lamented that her friend’s only chance of survival is through a kidney transplant.

“My friend can’t go to school or work due to this illness. We are begging the general public to help us get Prisca on her feet again with their generous mind. Let’s give a chance to live again.”

“Please, let’s support Prisca with whatever we can so she can live again,” Faith disclosed.

The statement added that donations to support Prisca’s transplant can be made to the following account:

Account Name: Udochukwu Prisca Nneka

Account Number: 1030595893. Bank: FCMB.
