The lawmaker, representing Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 01 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji, has distributed educational materials to pupils under his Back To School Support Initiative in its 5th edition.
The event, which took place at Fagba Junior Grammar School, Ifako-Ijaiye, on Thursday, attracted hundreds of schoolchildren, parents, teachers, community leaders, and stakeholders.
Items distributed included 500 school bags, 6,000 exercise books, 1,000 writing materials, 500 mathematical sets, 1,000 pairs of socks, and 500 water bottles — all aimed at easing the financial burden of parents while motivating pupils to excel in their studies.
Speaking at the event, the lawmaker said education remains one of his top priorities as a legislator, describing it as the “bedrock of human and societal development.”
He assured the students that once they continue to excel in their studies, they would benefit from the free GCE and JAMB forms initiative, as well as the scholarship scheme from the Adewale Temitope Adedeji Educational Initiative (ATA-EI).
The lawmaker also assured that the programme would be sustained annually and expanded to reach more children across the constituency.
He further encouraged parents to prioritise education and support their children’s learning both at home and in school while urging the students to shun cultism, thuggery and other vices that will affect their futures.
Through the ATA-EI,. Adewale Temitope has awarded over 120 scholarships to deserving students to study at various tertiary institutions in the country, as well as distributed more than 5,000 free JAMB forms, over 1,300 free GCE forms, and carried out various other interventions in education within Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 01.
